ISO 9000 & AUDITS WORLD CONFERENCEAerospace Adopts Automotive APQP Requirements With the New AS9145 StandardPresenter: Roger Ritterbeck, Aerospace Program Manager, Bureau Veritas Certification, Houston, TX, USA Keywords: Advance Product Quality Planning, Production Approval Process Industry: Aviation/Space Level: Intermediate ABSTRACTThe aerospace industry has adopted the automotive methodology for Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Approval Process (PPAP). The requirements are defined in the new AS9145 standard. The standard is broken into two key sections. The first is the requirements for Advanced Product Quality Planning. It starts with defining the general requirements for APQP and how the process shall be managed. It then goes into detail on the 5 phases of APQP deployment and execution. The first phase is the planning phase which set the ground work for a successful APQP process. The second phase is the Product Design and Development phase. This phase may or may not apply depending on the organizations product design responsibility. The third phase is the process design and development. This phase is critical to a successful APQP program. It will define how processes are development that will consistently produce acceptable product. The fourth phase is the Product and Process Validation phase. |
