Mel Stauffer

Mel Stauffer has 28 years of experience as a US and international certified Exemplar Global lead auditor, for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 13485, OHSAS 18001 and, ISO/TS 16949, for auditing, consulting and training. He has been working with the ISO standards since 1988. 

He is Senior Instructor for Applied Quality Management Systems (AQS) and American Society of Quality (ASQ) and a Senior Fellow member of ASQ. He is a participating member of TC 176 the standards developers responsible for ISO 9001 and International Subcommittee ISO 17021-3 Competence requirements for auditing and certification of quality management systems and Liaison. 

Stauffer is a Senior Instructor with ASQ since 1994 and teaches the 5-day Certified Lead and Internal Auditor classes (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 13485, OHSAS 18001 and, ISO/TS 16949, OHSAS 18001) for ASQ public cluster and on site. He managed the Quality Institute-University of South Carolina-Spartanburg and established South Carolina’s MEP- ISO/QS training and consulting practice for small to medium sized businesses for the state of South Carolina, DOC and University of South Carolina. 

He also instructs for Greenville Technical College, Midlands Technical Quality Center, Technical Colleges in South Carolina. Stauffer has conducted over 1600 registration audits. He has worked with a variety of Businesses as Consultant, supplier auditor, trainer and lead auditor Medical Devices-Covidien Corporate, Kimberly Clark, Philip Morris R&D, Automotive-BMW-Toyota, and many Automotive Suppliers Tiers 1, 2, and 3, Electronics-IBM, Google, AGEE, Digital Equipment Corp. Government-DOD, DOE NRC, Naval Warfare, ballistic and weapons, Homeland Security and Immigration and Citizenship, Urenco USA-Uranium Enrichment, Insurance-several divisions of BCBS, MetLife Corporate and Textiles-Milliken, Valdese Weavers and many other US and International businesses. 

His career started with Digital Equipment Corporation 1976, experiences included Manufacturing Corporate Accounts Manager, Manager of Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Human Resources Manager, Compensation and Benefits and EEOC manager and Technical recruiter and employment. He is also a Senior ASQ Fellow and a member of the local ASQ Palmetto Chapter in Greenville, SC.
