Susan Moore, Production Operations Compliance, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, Dallas, TX, USA

Keywords:

Technology Drives Risk Mitigation, Workforce Targets Self-Identification

Industry:

Aviation/Space

Level:

Intermediate

Embracing technology is critical to any company’s future. The presenter will review how a company has remained focused on customers with a continual improvement mindset. Part of the mindset included proven self-identification process and developing technology that is incredibly simple so the general workforce all the way to upper management can utilize technology to mitigate risk within the Aerospace industry.

Working together, management and team members each have a voice to formulate and target plans for improvement. Who better to identify risks than the people that are working the heart of the processes? The work force can challenge processes, identifying and inputting risks information in a system as management trends assessment data, identifies the risk, and communicates with teams. This part of the process builds not only trust within teams and management, but knowledge in numbers. The more people that are aware of the processes, the easier it is to evaluate the current state and determine risk. It is imperative to follow through the validation process when risks are identified and actions are taken to ensure the assessments are effective. When using this approach with technology, it takes self identifying to a new level.
