Every auditor has been trained how to write effective nonconformance statements. However, it is far less common that auditors are trained to write effective Opportunities for Improvement statements.

During this 35 minute hands-on workshop, participants will learn a simple and effective format for OFIs and have an opportunity to contrast their content and tone with similar nonconformance statements.

BIOGRAPHY

Denis Devos

Advisor, Devos Associates Inc, London, ON, Canada

Denis Devos is a Fellow of the ASQ, and joined the Society in 1996. He has a long career in auditing and quality management, and is a recognized expert in the application of the ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 13485 and ISO 14001 Standards.

Denis started his career as an Engineer at General Motors, where he led the first ISO 9001 implementation for a GM plant in North America, based on the original 1987 version of ISO 9001. For the past twenty-three years, Denis has been working full-time throughout Canada and the United States with clients on Management Systems improvement, Lean Thinking, internal auditing, training in such topics as FMEA and Root Cause Analysis, and leading companies to their next level of QMS and EMS performance.

Denis was elected a Fellow of the ASQ in 2011 in recognition of his contribution to Quality in the automotive and healthcare industries and his Risk is the Compass approach to QMS auditing. Denis is also a regular contributor on quality management and auditing topics at ASQ Divisional and international conferences, including many appearances at the ASQ World Conference on Quality and Improvement.
